The Dark Knight Rises

Postby Marnie » Wed Aug 01, 2012 5:44 pm

Soooo, what did everyone think? I really, really enjoyed it, personally. I think I probably liked the Dark Knight a little better, but I still felt it was a pretty solid conclusion. I also didn't expect to like Anne Hathaway at all (I have very high standards when it comes to Catwoman), but I found myself wishing that there had been more of her.

Though I gotta say, I can't wait to get that movie on blu-ray so I can watch with subtitles because at certain times I had serious issues understanding what the hell Bane was saying.

I'm also a little mad at myself for not seeing it coming that
Miranda was actually Talia Al Ghul. My boyfriend totally predicted it, but the thought never even occurred to me and I felt like a total dumbass since Ra's Al Ghul HAS A DAUGHTER NOT A SON, YOU DUMMY.

So, what did you like? What didn't you like? Favorite parts? Characters?

I agree with the spoiler, I should have seen that coming, and I felt stupid when it all clicked. Totally knew that character was a villain anyway. And I really like Ann Hathaway's Catwoman, but I wish she had been better developed. But then, this entire movie would have been better served if chopped in two and then fleshed out.

Agreed. There was a lot going on in this movie, and my main complaint afterwards was wishing that there had been a little more development of Catwoman and whatever Joseph Gordon's Levitt's character's name was (Ben?). Granted, I'm also biased there since I absolutely ADORE Joseph Gordon Levitt. He's amazing.

Also had a bit of an issue with
Bruce Wayne escaping from that prison. How the hell did he get back to Gotham in enough time without ANY RESOURCES? Also the whole, "Here, hang from this rope and it'll fix your completely mangled back!" was a bit of a stretch, but whatever.

Still thought it was a great movie, though, and I definitely want to see it again.

I actually didn't mind the primitive medicine, it actually matches what I've read about pre-modern medicine and what I know about spinal chord injuries. Most of them just need time to mend themselves, and being kept in a position where the muscle's are going to hold that vertebrae in place while the area heals makes a certain amount of sense, especially if access to drugs and fancy machines aren't available.

Well, huh. I had no idea. It just seemed so far-fetched to me, but I guess I was wrong...
