Sara Douglass passed away

Postby Stephan » Tue Sep 27, 2011 1:17 am

It is Karen Brooks here. It is with the greatest sadness that I am writing to let you know that Sara Douglass Warneke died this morning at around 5am. The universe is a little darker today and I know you will share my unbelievable sorrow. She loved you all and I know you loved her in return and that love comforted her in her final days. xxxx

Sara Douglass, you will be missed, but your great mark on the fantasy genre will last forever.

If you're unfamiliar with her works, Michelle's reviews are here, here, and here.

Very very sad. I've read most of her series EXCEPT the one that's reviewed here. Not that that is very surprising, I guess, since I think it was her newest.

Always a sad day when a good/great author dies. :(

Random note: Goodreads is QUICK. It already lists her death.

Yeah, she had been sick for a long time which I think is why she wrote 'Devil's Diadem' saying that it was probably her last book and the one she always wanted to write.

She was one of the first prominent female fantasy authors in Australia and did a lot to encourage other authors to follow their dreams.

So very sad.

Wow, I don't know how I missed this. I've never read her but I will be sure to pick up her books sometime soon. I know my Mom enjoyed her books, I'll have to let her know. Rest in peace.
