Songs of the Earth - Elspeth Cooper

Postby Mark Lawrence » Mon May 02, 2011 10:57 am

I don't know much about this one, but I discovered that Elspeth and I share an agent! Also 'Songs of the Earth' is mentioned in many places as a much anticipated debut for 2011 ... so let's anticipate it. Anyone read a review copy?

No-one seems to be anticipating it very much . . . probably all waiting for Prince of Thorns, like me.

Haha, I'm "waiting" for both. That's "waiting," because I'm really waiting for Songs of the Earth, and already own a copy of Prince of Thorns.

As for Songs of the Earth, I've been really anticipating that debut ever since Elspeth herself pointed me to it on Twitter. I even included it in the 2011 anticipation list.

The book sounds quite interesting and epic, as well as refreshing! Can't wait! :w00t:

Sounds awesome!! Anything compared to Patrick Rothfuss (as per Amazon's product desc) has my attention ... :)

For those of you who went scurrying to Amazon and Goodreads for more info, here are some convenient links:

The latest reviewer didn't much care for it. Still, you can't please all the people all the time.

I'm starting to think I should put Mark on commission ;o)

I'm still hoping to 'massage the odds' in that free book competition.

This comes out tomorrow (16th June). It's come out of the Amazon UK vine review program with 4* and those guys can be _tough_ Also, the Ranting Scotsman and Civilian Reader site were very positive about it.

I'm gonna buy me a copy.

Haha, awesome! My copy has to travel all the way to Holland, but the online bookstore has promised to deliver it this week, so I'm hoping to have it finished by this time next week. :D
